Some people confuse the pepper with chiltepin as both share the same name.

Bird’s eye chilies are said to be originated in Asian lands, especially in the areas of Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, and Cambodia. It is quite evident that these peppers are highly prevalent in these areas. But, due to its vast popularity, you can now find bird’s eye chilies in every part of the world. In ancient times, these chilies were used for remedial purposes. It has the properties to treat issues like toothaches, arthritis, and rheumatism. Bird’s eye chili also has a close resemblance to the Serrano pepper, but the latter is rounder and fatter. But, both have the same taste that makes them quite similar to one another.
