A delicious dinner that’s simpler and easier than picking up the phone to order a takeaway! My Aussie BBQ Burgers are seasoned with our super-flavourful Australian Native BBQ Seasoning that adds the most wonderful BBQ flavor with a myriad of native herbs along with onion and garlic in just a pinch.

In this recipe, I use beef mince, but you can just as easily use chicken, lamb, kangaroo, or even veg or halloumi steaks. The same goes for its fillings, below are just a few ideas, but you can add in, leave out, or swap anything you like.

Makes 4 burgers.

  • 1 tbsp The Spice People’s Australian Native BBQ Seasoning
  • 500g beef mince

Method

  1. In a bowl, add your mince, breadcrumbs, and Native BBQ Seasoning and mix well to combine – it’s important to mix well and work the mince a lot at this stage until it’s nice and sticky. This will ensure your burgers don’t break up when grilling. Divide the mix into four and form into burger patties – make the patties slightly bigger than your buns as they will shrink when cooking.
  2. Heat your BBQ or griddle pan to high. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and place your patties on, grilling for about 4 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your liking. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt on top.
  3. Remove from the pan and set aside to rest for 2 minutes. While the grill is still hot, place the buns cut-side down to warm through and crisp the outside up slightly – about 30 seconds.

In the meantime, combine the mustard and mayo in a small bowl. Layer your lettuce, tomato, onion, patties, and sauce and top with your bun lid. Serve as a standalone or alongside some hand-cut chips and enjoy!
