Yellow mustard seeds are more mild and less pungent than the black variety. They release an earthy aroma when cooked and a savoury and tangy taste. Yellow seeds are commonly used in Western cuisines due to its more subtle flavour and appearance. They are key ingredient in the Indian blend Panch Phora. Flavour Notes:
Yellow Mustard Seeds have a slightly sweet flavour and aroma that’s milder than their black counterpart. When heated, they release an earthy aroma when cooked and a savoury and tangy taste.
Culinary Notes:
The seeds can be used whole after blooming in a warm pan, or ground in a mortar and pestle to rub on meats or toss through veggies before roasting.
