Ingredients
- 2 tsp The Spice People’s Ground Mace
- 2 tsp The Spice People’s Ground Cinnamon
- 1.5 kg apples – I use Granny Smith for their tart flavour, but you can use any you like
- 30 g The Spice People's Vanilla Sugar
- 120g of caster sugar
- 100 g unsalted butter – fridge cold
- 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 200c degrees. Peel and core your apples, then cut into 2cm wedges.
- Place your apple wedges in a saucepan over medium heat along with 120g of your caster sugar, 1tsp mace, 1tsp cinnamon, and 25g butter. Place the lid on and cook on medium for 7-8 minutes, or until the apples are nice and soft and starting to become jammy. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Cube your remaining butter and place it in a bowl with your flour. Rub together until a crumb-like mix begins to form. Add in your vanilla sugar, cinnamon, mace, and your rolled oats and mix together well with your hands.
- Pour your stewed apples into a deep baking dish, cover with your crumble mix, and bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crumble on top is golden, and inside is bubbling. Serve with cream or ice cream and enjoy!
