The word baharat in Arabic means “spices,” and it refers to the fragrant blends that define North African and Middle Eastern cuisine. Much like garam masala in India, each region has its own unique mix, reflecting local taste traditions. In Lebanese kitchens, baharat is essential for seasoning meat, flavouring stews, and adding depth to sauces — a true pantry staple with centuries of culinary heritage.
Complex and aromatic, with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove; enrich grilled meats, roasted vegetables, rice, lentils, or soups with Middle Eastern sophistication.
