Sumac-Spiced Koftes with Creamy Tzatziki

Ingredients

Koftes

500g lamb mince

1 ½ tbsp The Spice People Greek Gyros Seasoning

1 tsp The Spice People Sumac

1 tsp The Spice People oregano

2 garlic cloves, minced

½ red onion, finely chopped

2 tbsp chopped parsley
1 tbsp olive oil

Zest from 1 lemon

Salt and pepper, to taste

Salad

2 cups finely sliced cabbage

½ red onion, thinly sliced
Juice of ½ lemon

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp chopped dill

Salt and pepper

To serve

Homemade tzatziki with sumac

Lemon wedges

Warm pita or flatbreads

Directions

Method:

  1. Combine lamb mince, Gyros Seasoning, Sumac, Oregano, garlic, onion, parsley, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well and shape into 8 small koftes.
  2. Drizzle with olive oil and grill on a BBQ or pan over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
  3. For the salad, toss cabbage, red onion, lemon juice, olive oil, dill, salt, and pepper together.
  4. Serve koftes with the lemon-dill salad, a spoonful of tzatziki, pita, and extra lemon wedges. Sprinkle a little sumac over the top before serving.
