Smoky Sticky Beef Ribs

Ingredients

  • 3L water
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 4 beef ribs
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tsp The Spice People’s Smoked Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp The Spice People’s Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/3 cup Single Malt Whiskey
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 orange, for juice and zest
  • 1 The Spice People’s Whole Ancho Chilli, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp The Spice People’s Mustard Powder
  • 1 tbsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Directions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil. Simmer the ribs in the water for 2 hours until soft. Allow the ribs to cool in the water. Preheat an oven to 180°C. 
  2. In a large bowl, combine the barbecue sauce ingredients and stir.
    Drain the ribs from the water and place the beef ribs bone side down in a roasting tray. Pour the sauce over the ribs and roast in the oven for 1 hour.
