Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups plain flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 125g butter
  • 1 tsp chai spice or cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground ginger (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 160°C. Line a tray with baking paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and mix well.
  3. Stir in flour, baking powder, and spices until dough forms.
  4. Roll out dough to 0.5cm thickness and cut with heart-shaped cutters.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden. Cool before icing or serving.
