French Braised Beef with Orange & Cinnamon

Ingredients
- 500g stewing steak, cubed
- 2 tbsp oil
- 3 tbsp plain flour
- 300ml orange juice
- 300ml beef stock
- 2 tsp white wine vinegar
- 150g button mushrooms
- 2 tsp soft brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp The Spice People’s Cinnamon Ground
- 1 sachet The Spice People’s Bouquet Garni
- 1/4 tsp The Spice People’s White Pepper Ground
- 1/4 sea salt flakes
- zest of 1/2 orange
Directions
- Pre-heat the oven to 180°C.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan and brown the meat. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring continuously. Gradually blend in the orange juice and stock. Add Bouquet Garni, cinnamon and pepper, Stir the remaining ingredients and bring to the boil.
- Transfer to a casserole dish, cover and cook for 2-2½ hours until the meat is tender. Remove the Bouquet Garni. Sprinkle with the orange peel to garnish.
Serve with mashed potatoes and steamed greens
