A delicious dinner that’s simpler and easier than picking up the phone to order a takeaway! My Aussie BBQ Burgers are seasoned with our super-flavourful Australian Native BBQ Seasoning that adds the most wonderful BBQ flavor with a myriad of native herbs along with onion and garlic in just a pinch.
In this recipe, I use beef mince, but you can just as easily use chicken, lamb, kangaroo, or even veg or halloumi steaks. The same goes for its fillings, below are just a few ideas, but you can add in, leave out, or swap anything you like.
Makes 4 burgers.

Method
- In a bowl, add your mince, breadcrumbs, and Native BBQ Seasoning and mix well to combine – it’s important to mix well and work the mince a lot at this stage until it’s nice and sticky. This will ensure your burgers don’t break up when grilling. Divide the mix into four and form into burger patties – make the patties slightly bigger than your buns as they will shrink when cooking.
- Heat your BBQ or griddle pan to high. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and place your patties on, grilling for about 4 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your liking. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt on top.
- Remove from the pan and set aside to rest for 2 minutes. While the grill is still hot, place the buns cut-side down to warm through and crisp the outside up slightly – about 30 seconds.
In the meantime, combine the mustard and mayo in a small bowl. Layer your lettuce, tomato, onion, patties, and sauce and top with your bun lid. Serve as a standalone or alongside some hand-cut chips and enjoy!
